brick & mortar is the poster child for the life of a small family winery. Focusing on single vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, both in still and sparkling wines, from high elevation sites in Napa Valley, Sonoma Coast, Russian River Valley and Mendocino Ridge Appellations. Matt, his partner & wife Alexis manage a family of 5, including Hadley, Olivia and Lincoln with a beautiful unique set of wines.
2016 Brut Rosé, Block House Vineyard
The 2016 Block House Vineyard Brut Rosé offers a delicate combination of aromatic precision is made from 100% organic Pinot Noir. The copper pink tones and silver highlights combine with the intense depth of a great red wine, with bubbles fine as velvet. The Napa Valley Pinot Noir creates a richness and elegance to this traditional method sparkling wine that is made into a rosé with the addition of 4% still Pinot Noir. On the nose, red cherry and almond blossom, strawberry, Chinese five spice, and chalky mineral tones. On the palate this wine is both powerful and subtle, with citrus notes, spiced orange, cherry compote and ginger cake. This is a distinctive sparkling rosé that is a pure expression of Pinot Noir grown on volcanic soil, and has the potential to develop with additional aging through 2035.
2016 Brut, La Perla Vineyard
Spring Mountain District, Napa Valley
This sparkling absolutely shimmers. Combining the rich strawberries and cream from 64% Pinot Noir with lemon custard, spiced apple and white blossoms, the volcanic soils of Spring Mountain create a serious mineral backbone for the wine. This wine is the perfect balance between razor freshness, ripeness, richness and focus. We chose to age this wine over three years to really showcase the amazing vineyard site and possibility for development.
